Research rigor, local service, and a practical view of what trust really means.

Hi, I'm Brian Lamar. I live in Columbia Township, Ohio, where I've planted roots both professionally and personally. By day, I work at ROI Rocket, where I focus on insights and data quality — helping make sure the research that drives big decisions is actually trustworthy. I'm also an elected Trustee for Columbia Township, working alongside my neighbors to keep our community strong and moving forward.

About Brian

I'm Brian Lamar, and I've spent the better part of 25 years asking the same question in different ways: can we actually trust this data?

I grew up in Kentucky — University of Kentucky fan, for better or worse — and eventually made my way to Cincinnati, where I have now lived for 25 years. I earned a Master's in Marketing Research from the University of Georgia and have worked across almost every level of the research business, from telephone interviewer and analyst to strategist and senior leadership.

That range of experience shaped the way I think about quality. A rule that looks good on paper can create real problems for real respondents if no one is paying attention, and a clean dashboard can still hide biased or unreliable data underneath.

Today I serve as Senior Director of Network Quality at ROI Rocket, where I focus on helping clients make decisions with data they can actually trust. I also write and speak about research quality, synthetic and human data, and the practical standards that should matter when AI is everywhere.

Outside of work, I serve as an elected Columbia Township Trustee. It turns out the skill set is not all that different: challenge assumptions, demand transparency, and remember that the people affected by decisions are neighbors, not abstractions.

Research and data quality

I work at ROI Rocket, a market research and data quality company based in Denver, Colorado. ROI Rocket has been in the business since 2002 — building proprietary panels, developing respondent verification tools, and helping clients get research they can actually trust.

Network quality

My work centers on making sure the data behind major business decisions is actually reliable, usable, and worthy of confidence.

Human + synthetic data

I spend a great deal of time thinking about how validated synthetic audiences and high-quality human panels can work together without sacrificing rigor.

Practical integrity

The goal is not just cleaner research in theory. It is research people can act on in the real world with fewer blind spots and less noise.

Signal & Noise

I co-host Signal & Noise with my colleague Andrew DeCilles — the kind of honest marketing research conversations that usually only happen after the conference wraps.

Writing

I write regularly on LinkedIn about data quality, synthetic and human panels, and how the insights industry is changing on the ground.

Why panels and synthetic data are better together

Thoughts on how to combine validated synthetic audiences with high-quality human panels in ways that actually improve decisions instead of just chasing hype.

Columbia Township

As an elected Columbia Township Trustee, I care deeply about transparency, practical local leadership, and the kind of public service that feels close to the people it affects.

This part of the site is where I share updates from local government, community projects, and township events alongside my work in research. I want the site to feel useful, grounded, and neighbor-focused rather than overly formal.

If you want to follow township news directly, visit the official Columbia Township website or Facebook page below.
